All other parties seem to me to have fostered “prostitution politics”

I got a reply back this morning about my post on Christy Clark’s Year-End Video.  At first the response I received made me laugh … a bit.

That laugh however soon turned to sadness … but that then turned to hope.  Here is what a Richard, who is a new member of the BC Conservative Party, had to say:

Thanks Alan … I hope smaller government and reduced government spending will be the top priority of the BC Conservative party. All other parties seem to me to have fostered “prostitution politics” with deficit spending and huge government debt the result … Richard

I took a moment to look up the definitions of two words that Richard used … ‘prostitution’ and ‘politics’.  There are of course the basic definitions we would all be familiar with, however here are the two which I chose to use.

Prostitutionthe use of a skill or ability in a way that is considered unworthy, usually for financial gain
Politicspolitical activity as a profession

Put that together and you will end up with ... ‘political activity that is used in a way that is unworthy

What a sad comment that is on how people feel about where things are these days with the operation of our political process in the BC legislature.   Other than two independent MLA's, BC's political process involves just the NDP and the Liberals.  Here are just a few of the things that they agree on:
  1. Imposing the highest gas taxes in the country on the Lower Mainland
  2. Wasting millions to subsidize electric cars
  3. Making the average BC family pay more in taxes than in any province west of Quebec
  4. Letting big union and corporate money control politics
  5. Giving first nations vetoes over resource development
  6. Treating our criminal justice system as an afterthought
  7. Handing out juicy contracts to insiders and cronies
Until sixteen months ago, I too had decided to become one of the nearly 50% of British Columbians, that were disengaged from the political process.  My hope has been restored by the re-awakening of the BC Conservative Party … and it looks like it has in Richard as well.

British Columbians deserve a real choice, a party that puts the average citizen ahead of the special interests and believes in common sense, conservative principles. The BC Conservatives are that choice.

Those words were spoken by BC Conservative Party leader, John Cummins.
Those words need to be heard by all British Columbians
It’s your responsibility now to pass them on to friends and family.

I’m Alan Forseth in Kamloops … with the words of one conservative.
