All logic, reason, and unbiased comment, flies out the window when it comes to anything he writes and says about Cummins and the BC Conservative Party

Alex Tsakumis (a man who considers himself on the highest pedestal of journalistic integrity --- AND --- to be more read and listened to than ANY other political journalist) yesterday posted cobbled together shreds of partial facts, rumors, and fiction. (http://alexgtsakumis.com/2012/10/05/exclusive-breaking-news-bc-conservative-party-cleansing-john-cummins-and-other-rabid-evangelicals-being-given-an-ultimatum-by-a-majority-of-constituency-associations).

NOW that some are questioning the accuracy of what he wrote, he has resorted to the only thing he know how to do, when someone questions what he has written.  He calls them liars … he angrily denounces them for questioning him ... he calls them fools and cowards.

He says, and I quote, “This is how cowards and manipulators operate. They should be ashamed! But this would require a conscience.”

By this blanket caustic remark, I guess he must lump me in to that category as well.  All I can say is that Alex T does NOT know me ... and I doubt if he really knows (or understand) others who have at times questioned what he had to say.

When I once dared to question him on something he had written he was immediately angry and incensed, hurled several nasty comments at me, and then proceeded to equate himself to God.

I have had little to do with him since.

This man (Alex T.) has a hate on for John Cummins, and anyone that has anything to do with him.  It is patently clear, and fully obvious.  So ... in my opinion ... all logic, reason, and unbiased comment, flies out the window when it comes to anything he writes and says then about Cummins and the BC Conservative Party.

Here’s the bottom line:
  • Several people have indeed said they NEVER signed this letter
  • Several people were hurriedly called by people begging them to sign the letter after the fact
  • Several people alleged to have signed this letter had already previously resigned as CA presidents
This list of names has zero credibility – I’ll leave it to you to decide on the real state of this alleged revolt which Alex T. has written about.

I can only read this as being part of a desperate ploy, by a faltering and failing Liberal government

CALL ME CYNICAL … but …

The long-awaited Kamloops Trades and Technology School, proposed for Nor-Kam Secondary, has finally received news it has received the $6.3 million needed to get the project underway.

Just days ago however, a Kamloops Daily News story detailing monies being handed out in the province, stated:
… Kamloops was not mentioned, which outraged trustees, who say they've done everything in their power to get money from the province.  "It's insane. There's been no capital money for Kamloops ever," said school board chair Denise Harper. "What message is she (Clark) sending to the constituents of this riding?"

This announcement, made today by Liberal MLA Terry Lake, is the first capital funding coming in to the Kamloops area in over a decade.

So here’s my question --- is this announcement about money to a project that will now get off the drawing board.  Will we actually see shovels in the ground, preparing and building a facility for students to attend next September?

OR … is it a promise of money forthcoming, at some point down the road.  There’s the cynical part.

I can only read this as being part of a desperate ploy, by a faltering and failing Liberal government, trying to buy the votes of people in Kamloops.

BUT ... there is no money to shovel off the back of a truck because the cupboard is bare!

Christy Clark knows that … Terry Lake knows that … and so does the current BC Finance Minister Mike de Jong.  A Globe and Mail story from September 13 said:

With collapsing resource revenues threatening his target to close a billion-dollar budget gap by next spring, B.C. Finance Minister Mike de Jong is looking at a limited number of options – none of them especially appealing for a government that must go to the polls in May.

At a fiscal update on Thursday, Mr. de Jong pledged to “fight tooth and nail” to balance the budget for the coming year. But he also announced that natural-gas prices have dropped dramatically, sinking the province deeper into deficit in the current budget cycle. To move from a $1.14-billion deficit this year to surplus next year, the province needs to boost revenues while keeping a tight lid on spending.

In another news story, this time in the Victoria Times Colonist:
 …
government projected a $925-million deficit for its 2011-12 budget … but British Columbia's auditor-general, John Doyle, took a different view of the province's books, saying the deficit number should be much larger….

Again I say … there is no money to shovel off the back of a truck because the cupboard is bare!

We’ve had enough of the BC Liberals – we don’t trust the NDP – and we want change

Here’s a question – have you ever taken a few minutes to read the Guiding Principles of British Columbia’s Conservative Party?

If not, I’d like to encourage you to do so.  What you will see is a commitment to concerns being raised by British Columbians from all across the province.

During the past year the BC Conservative Party, led by John Cummins, has begun announcing key planks that will be part of the election campaign next year.  All of them fit right in to the Guiding principles the party has.

For example there’s the Carbon Tax – tax foisted on us by the BC Liberals – and supported by the NDP.  The Carbon Tax is BOTH a hidden, and upfront, tax that we pay on everything.  Fuel, groceries, clothing, everyday household needs, winter wear and boots for your children, sporting and recreation events and activities --- it even robs financial resources from health and education.

BC Conservatives have been leading the way in calling for the elimination and banning of donations to political parties by BOTH unions and big business.  There should not be even the slightest indication are being controlled by special interests; that’s why we believe that political parties should be supported by individuals – not special interest groups.

Week after week --- month after month – we hear stories about alleged criminals being set free because of our “catch and release” justice system.   Government has lost control – and has failed us by refusing to take the courts and the justice system seriously.  We are paying the price with thousands of cases backed up in an obsolete and archaic system.   That is why BC Conservatives have made a commitment to public safety -- the justice system will have the resources to ensure that criminal cases are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner.

Today … John Cummins and the BC Conservative party announced one more important piece of policy, in a platform they will be taking to voters in next May’s general election.

The party has committed to … immediately introduce legislation to establish a Legislative Budget Office … saying that  British Columbians want greater scrutiny of, and accountability for, spending by our provincial government.

The BC Conservatives, in sharp contrast to the BC Liberals and the NDP, are dedicated to spending smarter, to being prudent with the expenditure of taxpayers’ monies.”

Location confirmed for Kamloops BC Conservative Party G-I-G-A-N-T-I-C Parking Lot / Yard Sale

We now have confirmation a location confirmed for our first ever Kamloops BC Conservative Party G-I-G-A-N-T-I-C   Parking Lot / Yard Sale --- which takes place from 9am to 3pm on Sunday October 14th.

Randy at the Valleyview Barbershop at 2172 Flamingo Road (where they always have the big outdoor Christmas display) has kindly consented to allow us to use his parking lot and.  For those unfamiliar with the area, Flamingo Road exits off Highland Drive, and runs into the Valleyview Square (at the TD Bank end and where the old Turbo gas station used to be).

So we now have a location ... now we need some good quality stuff for the sale --- and we need tables.  We’re hoping to have enough items donated that we will require at LEAST a dozen tables.

Now’s the time to free up room in your garage – and to do a fall cleaning in the basement – to find items you can donate.  We’re looking for gently used / good quality housewares … sporting goods … baby items … books / CDs / Videos … and more.  Anything people would be looking to buy.

We are creating a couple of central areas to store the items, and so we can do a bit of a pre-sort ahead of set-up on sale day.  If you have room in your garage to store some of the items being donated, email the garage sale hotline at alfman55@hotmail.com … or call (250) 374-6196.

The plan right now is to take the items down to set-up the sale area at 7:30am – the sale will then get underway at 9am.  We will also need a truck or two to transport the items to the sale site -- any takers??

Remember … pass word along to your friends and neighbors about the Parking Lot / Yard Sale -- we'll need people to buy our stuff.  Friends may also have items to donate, so don't be afraid to ask.

AND … we can still use a few more people to help with the event … and to take care of the membership / information table.

This “Parking Lot / Yard Sale” is to add to the campaign funds we will need to support of BC Conservative candidates in the Kamloops South Thompson, and Kamloops North Thompson riding's.

Their success will depend of each one of us doing our part.

British Columbians are searching for an option … a choice that they have not had in recent years

Last Monday Jim Harrison, in his editorial comment on CHNL, suggested that the forecast is stormy, with a good chance of disaster, for the BC Conservative Party.

Kamloops South Thompson BC Conservative Party Constituency Association Vice President Peter Sharp – and I – both strongly disagreed with what he had to say.

The following is a joint piece from the two of us -- an edited version of which ran on CHNL on Monday October 1 -- as a rebuttal to Jim Harrisons original Editorial Comment.

Having attended the BC Conservative AGM, I saw a great deal of unity, goodwill, and a commitment to offering BC voters a real choice and option.

As you mentioned … former BC Conservative candidate John Martin did decide to join the BC Liberals.  To me however, that was further proof of what only months ago he said was wrong with Christy Clark’s Liberals.

I quote … “"Not even the most devoted Liberal supporter could argue with a straight face that this government has earned a fourth mandate. Theirs is a legacy of deceit, incompetence, and financial mismanagement.”

On Saturday morning (September 22) over 250 party members spent nearly 3 hours in occasional strong, yet respectful debate on proposed amendments to new policy.

We completed the work needed to present our platform of common sense ideas to the electorate next spring.

John Cummins was given a mandate to continue as leader -- and then proceeded to deliver a powerful and passionate speech on several key points need for voters to once again begin having faith in government.

And then … to the loss of John Van Gone Again.  Regretfully he is now “0” for “2” on being able to work with party leadership.
