B.C. Conservatives lauded by leadership candidate - Dan Brooks relays resource platform in South Cariboo

The following is an article written by Carole Rooney, which appeared in todays (November 6, 2013) edition of the 100 Mile Free Press.  

 

British Columbia Conservative leadership candidate Dan Brooks recently visited 100 Mile House to meet with potential party supporters.  Brooks is based in Vanderhoof, where he runs a hunting and fishing lodge.

 

"I've been in tourism pretty much all of my life. In my background, I did an awful lot of land and resource management planning." 

 

While his party did not put forward a Cariboo-Chilcotin candidate in the last provincial election, Brooks said he is actively seeking new members in order to begin "building the party" and find a candidate in the constituency. 

 

"Even though we didn't elect anybody, the [B.C.] Conservative Party played a very, very crucial role in this last election, and we took the entire political spectrum to the right, toward free enterprise and personal freedoms. The [B.C.] Liberals tacked to counter us. In previous elections, we weren't a force, and so they could ignore us, but in this election, we were a significant force, and so they had to tack that way." 

 

In this manner, his party did a "great service" for the province and its democracy, he said, so despite having no members sitting in the legislature, those election efforts were not made in vain.

 

"This province will be better by our presence alone. Imagine how much better it will be when we are in government," he added, chuckling. 

 

Brooks explained he realizes people feel discouraged about the lack of strength in his party, but without his right-wing party views, they will only have an "NDP and NDP-like" perspective in the legislature. 

 

"We need a party that represents the ideals of [B.C.] Conservatives across the province. That's what we are trying to build." 

 

Most small rural communities in B.C. are either "outright suffering or stagnant," Brooks said, with little economic growth and dwindling population. 

 

"Across rural B.C. in the last 15 years, we have lost 58,000 people. That's an awful lot of people."

 

Last year, 10,000 residents left the province, he noted, while others have gone to larger urban centres. 

 

"As a potential leader of the [B.C.] Conservative party, that is a worrying trend that I propose to change. So, we have got to put the focus on rebuilding the rural resource economy." 

 

Brooks explained agriculture, forestry and tourism issues in the South Cariboo are likely much the same as in Vanderhoof, as they all require dedicated land. 

 

"So, you have to find ways to utilize land to maximize your revenue base off of that land base. And, there are some deterrents that currently exist." 

 

He noted the first example of this that came to his mind. 

 

"Aboriginal land claims ... have become an economic deterrent, and have made economic growth in our rural resource areas extremely difficult.  I agree entirely with the idea of consultation and accommodation, but you can't perpetuate this indefinitely. At some point in time, someone is going to have to stand up and say, 'we are going to force this issue'." 

 

Brooks added the "biggest problem" on First Nations reserves is abject poverty, and the way to eliminate that is to provide jobs. 

 

"How do you get jobs? You build a rural resource economy. So, by building economic growth in your rural communities, that benefits First Nations." 

 

The current MLAs have become "rubber stamp machines" who follow the party lines, he said, while the B.C. Conservatives will empower constituents by empowering their MLA to represent them as they see fit. 

 

Brooks noted he plans to visit the South Cariboo again before the party leadership elections take place April 11-12. 

 

"I'm going to be down here in 100 Mile the first week of December. This time I'll be holding an event ... we'll have a meet-and-greet."

Who is Westside-Kelowna BC Conservative candidate Sean Upshaw?  Well I asked Sean that very question, and here is what he had to say:

Every story has a beginning.  Mine is similar to some, and greatly dissimilar to others.  I begin with this simply to let you know my early roots.  My parents divorced when I was 3. and I ended up in foster homes and between parents. Due to illness my Mom was on Disability Assistance; my father was an alcoholic. It was a challenging time for me as a child, and into my late teens. 

At age 18 I nearly died when I was stung by dozens of wasps, and I went into anaphylactic shock. I survived, and shortly after, I made a decision to make some major changes in my life.  Since then I have never looked back, and set myself on a path to be the best person I can. 

I have been married to my lovely wife, Heather, for almost 30 years. We moved here to Kelowna 11 years ago from Abbotsford, with our 3 children, Andrew, Sarah and Dave.  

Since then, Andrew has gotten married, to Ashley, and they have 2 children, Noah and Ezra. Sarah has been working with me for about 7 years. She did receive her real estate license, but is now working as my unlicensed assistant. Dave was working in real estate with us as well, but has recently moved to Vancouver with his fiancé, Jen. 

Heather and I have a dog named Sami. Some of my hobbies are spending time with my family, watching Canucks hockey and Golf, being out on the lake in the summertime, and vintage cars. I really enjoy studying the stars, the universe and physics. 

I am also a political junkie.  My political interest began when at the age of 10 in Camrose Alberta.  There I had the opportunity to meet, and shake the hand of, Premier Peter Lougheed. From that moment on, I grew to learn that that one individual can make a difference in this world. 

In the 2011 Federal Election I ran as an Independent Conservative Candidate in the Okanagan Coquihalla riding, and of course in the recent BC Provincial General Election, I ran as a candidate for the BC Conservatives. 

My record is that of a person who is well educated, a real

achiever who is not afraid to be innovative and take risks. 

I am loyal and committed to what is right, and to serving people whenever and wherever I am able. Even though I could have been held back by a challenging start to life, I have not let that hold me back from being the best person I can be. 

The reason I have chosen to run, in the Westside Kelowna by-election, is because our Province truly needs a Conservative government if we are to ever get out of the financial mess that the BC Liberals have put us in. 

It is not an easy task taking on a Premier, especially one who is as arrogant and cunning as the one we have now. 

Our province has been robbed from, lied too, and corrupted by this present Liberal government, but hopefully with new eyes on the situation, and the ability to speak first hand to it, they can finally be held to account. 

The BC Liberals have done a masterful job, of covering up their past, with a campaign that was paid for by the very taxpayers that are being deceived. I guess you could say we have sown the wind, and reaped to the whirlwind. Soon the chickens will come home to roost. 

Unfortunately it seems the media, in large part, are a big part of the problem. They have long passed the point of journalism and have been sold out to commercialism. The unbiased days of truth and fairness have been replaced with favoritism and greed, and the need to be populist instead realists. 

Am I being too honest?  

So I have chosen to run because I, like many BC Conservatives, am not under the “spell” of this agenda. 

I see my role in Victoria as one of fighting for truth in the midst of what Christy Clark herself has called a “sick” culture -- one I hope that a growing number of British Columbians will come to acknowledge as a role much in need of being filled. It certainly is not one that the NDP will take on, after all, they are as much a part of it, as the BC Liberals.

Today’s government policies on private power are in the process of bankrupting W.A.C. Bennett’s greatest contribution to the growth of the B.C. economy, BC Hydro, the “powerhouse of British Columbia.”.  Christy Clark has no right at all to be channeling the spirit of the great W.A.C. Clark said on Thursday that Strahl is an example of a retired federal politician who is "very actively helping us on this campaign and I'm really proud of the contribution (he's) making." 

 

Strahl confirmed that he has "no involvement" in Clark's or anyone else's campaign 

 

Vancouver Sun (June 11th)

...  Christy Clark’s BC Liberal government has significantly increased the maximum salaries it can pay to its top political staff ... boosts the maximum salary that can be handed to Clark’s Chief of Staff ... can now also make up to $230,000, representing a boost of almost 60 per cent from the position’s previous cap of $144,000.

Finance Minister Mike de Jong is defending surprise Liberal pay increases for political staff, even as his government preaches austerity.  

 

CBC News (June 7th / 2013):
Delta South Independent MLA Vicki Huntington says she is dismayed over the $25 monthly fee charged for wheelchairs or wheelchair cushions. 

You told us that today's' BC Liberal government is, "using resources wisely to give children the start they need in life"

Up to the election writ being dropped, the BC Liberal government found it necessary to spend millions of taxpayer dollars in what many called highly partisan advertising.  

Well the election campaign ended two and a half weeks ago, the Liberal were re-elected, and since then not ONE single ad has been run on the balanced budget ... the BC Jobs Plan ... or about the security of our economy due to careful government strategies and planning. 

Does that not clearly confirm these ads were not necessary, and were ONLY run for the benefit of the BC Liberal Party in the lead up to the election?

Again, the lack of integrity by the BC Liberal Party is there for all who wish to see it.

I mean no disrespect to the many hard working journalists out there, but why is it that no media news outlet is raising this issue? I would hate to think it comes down to a matter of dollars and cents, but then again the media owners were the direct recipients of this spending extravaganza, by the BC Liberal government, which wasted millions of dollars of resources entrusted to them by the people of BC. 

I had a Letter to the Editor published the other day in the Kamloops Daily News -- it included the following direct quote from a then opposition MLA by the name of Christy Clark:

“People don’t want the government to spend $700,000 of their money so they can find out how to access services; people want this government to spend their money so that those services are there for them to access."  

"That’s what British Columbians want,” Clark railed. “How many firefighters, how many police officers will not be on the street because [the Finance Minister] is spending on her advertising campaign?” 

So Christy ... how many firefighters -- how many police officers aren't on the street because YOU decided it was more important for your government to be re-elected.  

Better yet; how many nurses and other medical staff aren't available that could have helped reduced surgical wait times -- or shortened wait times in ER's?

TAKING A BREAK ... for next 10 weeks

Greetings friends ...

I just wanted to let you know that with the BC Provincial Election just 10 weeks away, and the active role I am taking in the Kamloops South Thompson election campaign, I will be signing off for the next 2 and a half months.

Meet Ed Fehr, BC Conservative Party candidate for Kamloops North Thompson

I was born in Beaver Lodge, Alberta. My family moved to a small community called Takysie near the Lakes District community of Burns Lake, BC.  At Takysie, my family bought and operated a small sawmill.

Three years later, we moved to Fraser Lake, BC, where my parents bought a 160 acre farm on which our family raised 200 head of sheep.  At an age of 12, this helped me learn the importance of being responsible, and knowing the value of hard work. 

Ed Fehr is; “A guy that’s willing to have boots on the ground, go door-to-door and talk to people and bring their issues back to Victoria."

Over the course of my life, I have worked in several industries including operational aspects mining; and  like our party leader John Cummins,  I have taken pride in being able to see the end results of hard work. 

I cut my teeth in politics with the Saskatchewan Party while living there between 1997 and 2004.  I held the role of Vice-President in Saskatoon Center, and then went on to become President of the Riding Association a year later. 

Ed Fehr sees increasing access to doctors as a major priority for the next provincial government; "We need to have more doctors, and the health-care system needs to be completely revamped.”

I returned to BC in 2007, and in March 2012, I was elected as president of the Kamloops-North Thompson Constituency Association for the BC Conservative Party.

I married my lovely wife Naomi in 1996. 

Throughout my life people like late Cyril Shelford (BC rancher and Social Credit MLA), have made a lasting impression on me, to be a voice for the people of British Columbia in the provincial legislature.

Kamloops South BC Liberal MLA Kevin Krueger is, "Way over the line" with comments regarding the BC Conservatives.

Late yesterday afternoon, Kamloops South Thompson BC Liberal MLA Kevin Krueger, launched a verbal attack on BC Conservatives.

The following is a media release, sent out by BC Conservative candidate Peter Sharp, in reponse:

KAMLOOPS: Yesterday, BC Conservative Party leader John Cummins called on Premier Christy Clark to suspend Pat Bell, the controversial Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training, from the Executive Council.

"We asked this because there have been allegations made in public, and through a CBC news report that he was involved in “breached protocols, broken promises and misrepresentation” with regards to the proposed Wood Innovation and Design Centre in Prince George", stated Kamloops South Thompson BC Conservative Party candidate Peter Sharp.

Sharp continued, "At no time did we state that he 'was' involved, only that allegations have been made, that should be examined and looked in to."

BC Conservatives, and all residents of the Kamloops area, should have real concern with the response of current Kamloops South Thompson MLA, and former Cabinet Minister, Kevin Krueger.

Sharp went on to say, "His comments are completely unacceptable behavior for an MLA!  He went way over the line with his caustic comments aimed at all members of our party -- not just the leadership."

"In fact, using an official government MLA email account, to hurl these insults at people who are some of his constituents, could be looked at as further arrogance by a party already being questioned by the electorate for it's integrity and accountability."

"If there is any silver lining to this whole situation, it is only that with the retirement of MLA Krueger, the people of our province will no longer be subjected to this kind of bullying.", Sharp concluded.

Suspend Bell and expand investigation, Cummins

LANGLEY, BC, FEB. 26, 2013 – John Cummins, leader of the BC Conservatives, today called on Premier Christy Clark to suspend Pat Bell, the controversial Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training, from the Executive Council.

The call follows reports by CBC News alleging that Bell, the MLA for Prince George-Mackenzie, was involved in “breached protocols, broken promises and misrepresentation” with regards to the proposed Wood Innovation and Design Centre in Prince George.

Cummins also said that the Premier should expand the mandate of Jane Shackell, Q.C., the “fairness advisor” retained to oversee the bid process for the Wood Centre, so she can investigate the CBC News allegations.

“Pat Bell has been involved in one controversy after another under the current Premier,” said Cummins. “From botching a deal for the BC Place Stadium naming rights, to wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on television advertisements extolling his failed Jobs Plan, to inappropriately sending confidential emails to a lobbyist, to the Wood Centre in Prince George, he’s been an unmitigated disaster.”

The CBC News reports were based on allegations by two Prince George-area business men who claim they were not short-listed for the Wood Centre project, despite earlier discussions with Bell and other BC Liberal government representatives.


UPDATE:While not an apology, I'm glad to Kamloops South Thompson MLA Kevin Krueger indicating that perhaps he had a poor choice of words in his attack on the BC Conservatives

Last night BC Conservatives, in Kamloops South Thompson, elected Peter Sharp to represent them in this Mays Provincial General Election.

Those of you in other areas of the province, or who may have been unable to attend last night meeting, missed a great meeting, and hearing the words of Peter. 

He has given me permission to print them for you and they follow.  First though, I thought I would share with you what he had to say online this morning:

Good evening fellow Conservatives, honoured guests, ladies and gentlemen, and fellow nominee candidate Maria Dobi ...

 

My name is Peter Sharp and tonight I hope to become your candidate, for the BC Conservative Party, in our Kamloops South Thompson Riding.  Then with your support, encouragement, and assistance -- to become your MLA following the May General Election. 

 

About a month ago, BC Liberal MLA Terry Lake was quoted as saying:  “What we do see, as we get closer to election, is that people are understanding what the BC Conservatives are all about….”

 

My hope is that the Voters of our great province do indeed come to understand what we, as BC Conservatives are all about and what we believe in ... and what we hope to bring to the political stage in British Columbia.

 

Terry Lake tossed a generalized statement out -- one, which implied there is something to fear from the BC Conservatives.   He knows that his implied statement is completely without truth ... and the backroom manipulators of the BC Liberal Party know that as well.

 

In fact ... because WE BELIEVE IN BC ... and the people of BC ... I am proud to say that our beliefs, principles and policies differ greatly from the BC Liberal Party.

 

WE - as BC Conservatives - believe in clearly defined public policies and programs that are affordable, effective, and accountable to each one of you here tonight.  And I too believe that each and every British Columbian is entitled to full knowledge of all services government provides ... AND what they cost.

 

After all ... how else can we know if we are getting good value?

 

WE -- as BC Conservatives --  believe that our provincial government must operate with the highest standards of integrity and transparency.  And we as BC Conservatives also believe that governments at all levels -- including at the municipal level -- are responsible to serve and respect all individuals and their families.

As an elected councillor with the City of Kamloops, I have firsthand experience in knowing why our elected representatives should first and foremost represent your interests.

 

As a retired RCMP officer with 30 years of experience, I too believe in the BC Conservative Party's policy of law and order that focuses on the rights of victims ... and the protection of the public.

 

We as BC Conservatives have our feet planted in reality.  We need to have smaller government ... we need to encourage new enterprise.  Leadership at all levels (from teachers in the classroom -- to elected officials in Victoria) MUST encourage our youth ... parents ...  employees in the workplace ... and business leaders to dream big dreams.  We need to once again strive towards excellence and prosperity. 

 

These are not just motherhood statements ... these are statements that I too -- WITH YOU -- believe in.

 

If I have the opportunity to be your elected representative for the BC Conservative Party…. I will hold my party accountable to create an environment where good government and prosperity can be achieved.

Yesterday I became aware of a BC Liberal campaign which stated, "We Want to Hear from You – GetInvolved Today".

 

This in case you were not aware, is with regards to the much talked about, and  s - l - o - w - l - y being built, four lanes of highway from Kamloops through to Alberta.

They are inviting us to; "Help shape the government’s $650 million investment over the next 10 years to improve the safety, reliability and movement of people and goods along the Trans-Canada Highway."

Would I be wrong in saying, "Enough already -- we know it needs to be built -- so do you -- GET GOING and finish the job"

Call me a skeptic, but as far as I am concerned, this is just phony show of money wasting talk-talk-talk consultation.

Today, in my email I received the following comments from a friend in the Shuswap, they said:

On  Tuesday Mary Polak (Minister of Transportation), along with BC Liberals candidate Greg Kyllo, were at a luncheon meeting here in Enderby -- only 34 people showed up.  Mary promised they would put $5.2 million into the road out of Enderby going north to Mable Lake. 

This morning Christie Clark promised to upgrade the Highway #1 to 4 lanes from Kamloops to the Alberta border.  This runs right through Salmon Arm and is mostly in our Shuswap riding.

On Thursday Health Minister Margaret MacDiarmid was in Vernon to announce the opening of more floors in the Vernon Hospital.

The BC Liberals are getting really desperate and know they can promise anything, because there is very little chance they will have to follow through on their promises. 

Now today in the Kamloops Daily news is a story, "Minister vows four lanes to Chase -- Public consultation on 10-year four-laning project to begin on Tuesday"

Here is just a bit of the content from that story:

Sweeping skepticism aside, Transportation Minister Mary Polak promised Thursday that widening of the Trans-Canada Highway west of Chase will start this year.

Polak and MLA Terry Lake reiterated a commitment made last fall by Premier Christy Clark as they announced, to a room filled with local politicians, the start of a month of public consultations along the corridor.

BC HYDRO Part 3 (AKA) Does "No" actually mean "No" to the BC Liberals? To all of them? Some of them? And on what day?

Today's Conservative Thoughts commentary is a guest op / ed.  Unfortunately I am unable to include the name of the writer, but this is a person I have known and have respected for nearly 20 years.

 

As B.C. Hydro and Corix installers roll out across the province, targeting people who’ve refused the Hydro smart meters, the message changes constantly.

“I’ve been ordered to put a meter on every house
and I’m doing it.”, he replied ... and he did.

From 85,000 to 140,000 British Columbians have registered with Hydro to refuse the smart meters. Reasons include health, safety, privacy, time of day billing and, as one man put it, “the jack-booted way it’s being imposed”.

On January 22nd Energy Minister Rich Coleman reassured the hold-outs that meters wouldn’t be forced upon them.

On January 29th Liberal MLA Gordon Hogg issued a statement, telling people pressured to accept new meters, to notify their MLA’s.

On January 30th a Kamloops reporter wanting to confirm the government’s position, phoned several MLAs.  BC Liberal MLA and Energy Minster Rich Coleman wasn’t available, but his office sent a copy of the Jan. 22nd statement that Smart Meters would not be forced on them.

Gordon Hogg’s office replied “Mr. Hogg is no longer speaking to the media on the smart meter issue.” 

Kamloops South Thompson MLA Kevin Krueger, the only Liberal MLA who would speak, said “..We always have some people who think everything’s bad for them. …however there are some people with really unique health conditions.  I don’t want to have smart meters anywhere near them."

People felt reassured.  It didn’t last long.

Between January 28th and February 1st, the city of Kamloops was targeted for a final installation blitz. Corix, the company doing installations, employs mostly young men who are paid by piece work.  Every morning they held a team meeting during which they’re told where to go, what to say and what to do.

On January 28th, a 72 year old woman insisted to the installer that she didn’t want a smart meter.  “What part of ‘no’ don’t you understand?” she asked. 

“I’ve been ordered to put a meter on every house and I’m doing it.”, he replied, and he did.

Another woman, who has medical problems, explained why she was refusing. “Now I’ve talked to you can I be confident no one else will come install a meter?” 

"We’ll be back”, was the response.

“When?”, she asked 

The response?  ... “Maybe tomorrow.” 

One man became so exasperated, after he was asked three times why he was refusing, that he grabbed for the smart meter.  In the scuffle a Corix employee fell to the ground.  The RCMP arrived within 15 minutes and told the householder he would be charged.

You are right Kevin (Krueger), "None of this happened by accident". These things happened on the watch of the BC Liberal government

Yesterday on Facebook I posted the following that I came across from the Victoria Times Colonist, "Editorial: Stagnant B.C. needs renewal". 

Part of the editorial stated that:

Real wage rates for low-income earners in B.C. have stagnated and now lag the rest of the country. That’s one reason we have the second-worst child-poverty rate in Canada. That is both a shame and a failure.

So what is to be done? There are warnings here for whichever party wins the provincial election in May. Policies that divide us, whether by favouring one group or hammering another, have not worked ...

Maybe you folks would benefit from a name change, in line with "truth in advertising." I know, how about "The Black Cloud Party."

If the world is in recession, and has been for 5 years, once-powerful European countries are insolvent, the USA is running $trillions in debt, but BC will have a balanced budget April 1 and has hundreds of thousands more jobs than ever before, with hundreds of thousands becoming available, isn't that a GOOD thing?

Well folks ... what do you think ... is it a good thing we have been getting from Christy Clark led BC Liberal government?  I think I know the answer I would receive from many -- but I did have to follow up and ask my friend Kevin;

Why is it that you treat the truth with such disdain? The content of this piece (from the Times Colonist) simply echoes what has been reported elsewhere, by several other publications, and writers, that are well know.

Not only are we falling behind in income earned by British Columbians, compared to most provinces in Canada, our employment rate is also NOT increasing. This despite millions being spent, by your BC Liberal government, on highly partisan ads that are blatant distortions of the truth.

You claim that what I say is untruthful, Kevin? Would you say the same of Stats Canada? You should know by now that I research what I say. I do NOT make things up, unlike the ads you and Premier Christy Clark are so proud of.

NOW ... lets quote Stats Canada ... December 2012:
"In British Columbia, employment was LITTLE CHANGED in December and the unemployment rate declined 0.3 percentage points to 6.5%. COMPARED WITH 12 MONTH EARLIER, EMPLOYMENT WAS LITTLE CHANGED.

Those new ideas, John Martin spoke of, must include creative ways for Liberal MLAs to benefit party supporters, at the expense of BC taxpayers

BC Conservative Party leader John Cummins is reminding all British Columbians that taxpayers are footing payment for bills BC Liberal Vernon - Monashee MLA Eric Foster wracked up ... and for which no paperwork was provided.

John Cummins; "What we have here is exorbitant rents being paid, exorbitant renovation fees and the beneficiary of course, is his Constituency Assistant's husband and her family. I just think it is outrageous. I think the public is certainly upset and they want answers."

Gosh I hate to do this again, but really I must.

This reminds me of comments that newly minted BC Liberal candidate John Martin made less than a year ago about the party he crassly has become part of:

JOHN MARTIN: "The Liberal government has failed the people of British Columbia and has squandered trust with the public ..."

Then ... after his leap to the BC Liberals in September, John Martin was also quoted saying, "Premier Christy Clark and the BC Liberals have demonstrated to me that they are open to new ideas ..."

I guess those new ideas include creative ways of figuring out how to benefit party supporters ... at the expense of BC taxpayers.

Maybe that's why John Martin also had these words to say last Spring ... words which are just as true today, as they were then, "The best way to hold Christy Clark and the BC Liberal government accountable is by voting for the BC Conservatives ..."

The BC Liberal Abbotsford South riding association board resigned a few weeks back, saying the democratic selection for a candidate has been circumvented due to manipulation by those in the backrooms of the BC Liberal Party.

The BC Liberal party had wanted to have Darryl Plecas acclaimed as the parties candidate, despite the fact the Moe Gill had been seeking the nomination. The party won out and the democratic process, of riding members selecting their own candidate, was circumvented.

Now I see, via Vaughn Palmer, that we will be enjoying a sequel to the original story ... stayed tuned for "Moe Gill's revenge". 

Gill has announced he plans to run as independent against Mike de Jong, his former political mentor, in Abbotsford West. Again according to Vaughn Palmer, Mike De Jong had encouraged Gill to run against John van Dongen, but then didn't help Gill when party brass blocked him for getting the Abbotsford South nomination.

Law said he was upset and shocked by the Liberal Party's announcement on Wednesday that it was cancelling an upcoming nomination meeting, and instead bringing an outside candidate into Richmond to vie to become the next MLA for Richmond Centre, and replace the soon-to-retire Rob Howard. 

"Most of the people in the community know that I have a heart to serve individual groups and also organizations within the community," Law said, adding he hoped to devote himself fully to serve the community by running for office. 

Right now at least, it seems the Christy Clark BC Liberals are not a party that believes in anything but desperately attempting to cling to power.  It certainly does not believe in upholding the democratic process; instead they have shown themselves to be heavy handed (as shown by over-ruling their own constituency associations). 

No accountability --- No integrity -- NO THANKS Christy!  Of course I am partisan ... but honestly, can you say this is a party worthy of receiving the support of British Columbians?
