Christy wants to hear from us ...

Some of you may be aware of this already, but if not, Christy Clark has invited us to let her know our thoughts and ideas.

It's part of her "Open Government Initiative"

Here's the message of our premier designate:

Fellow British Columbians,

As I prepare to assume office as your premier, one of my top priorities is working with you to create an open government in Victoria.

That's why I am asking you to send along your thoughts, ideas and priorities. I honestly believe listening and engaging with citizens is a critical way to make change work for you.

I look forward to hearing from you …

May I recommend to you that we ask her to have an independent public inquiry into the Basi / Virk trial ... and why we as taxpayers have been forced to pay the defense costs of $6 million dollars??

Ensuring that Canadians have access to the care they need, when they need it

Earlier this week my Kamloops Liberal MLA, Kevin Krueger, talked about surgical wait lists and the Interior Health Authority (IHA), in a news story with CHNL 610.  In the story he mentioned that Kamloops is far behind Kelowna in wait times.

I am just wondering what the point was in his story — other than he continues to blames the NDP government from 10 years earlier.

The real story should however be about the personal stories of the people that this situation impacts!

Don't be fooled, Christy Clark doesn't want to be mayor of Vancouver, she wants to be premier of BC

"Don't be fooled -- Christy Clark doesn't want to be mayor of Vancouver -- she wants to be premier of B.C."
Bill Tieleman, 24 hours, Sept. 20, 2005

Okay so now Christy Clark is the Premier of BC --- here's what a few of her friends have had to say so far:

·         Mike De Jong, who finished last in Saturday's vote, said that "I think people are excited about the beginning of a new chapter. I think there is anticipation. Our first chance to come together after the election of a new leader and premier-designate. It's all good."

A decade after taking power, the NDP are still to blame

Do you know what I find both annoying and frustrating?  It’s hearing the BC Liberals, 10 years after they have been the government in Victoria, still blaming the NDP for things they are not dealing very well with.

For example yesterday I heard my Kamloops South Thompson MLA, Kevin Krueger, on the CHNL early morning news, blaming LONG wait time at Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) on the NDP.

He was saying that because the previous NDP administration had built the cancer clinic in Kelowna, this was the reason why we had a shortage of doctors and facilities here in Kamloops.

Kevin, it’s been 10 years --- one hundred and twenty months … over three thousand six hundred and fifty days … and some where around eighty eight thousand hours since you became government.  Don’t you think in that amount of time, you could have taken a couple of hours, with each of the Health Ministers we’ve had, to see what could be done?

I wouldn’t bet on it …

Listening to the news over the past few days one would think that with meetings, discussions, and people having the opportunity to speak for and against the new mega-casino at Canada Place in Vancouver, there is a chance it won’t be built.

I wouldn’t place a bet on it!

The NDP regrettably started the government relying on casino money – and over the past decade the Liberals have taken it to new heights.

And who loses with more and more casino’s opening all over the province??  Well for starters it will be community non- profit groups that have been seeing an ever increasing decline in government funding.

Comments from two folks ...

Last Monday (February 28th) I wrote in my blog that, “Small “c” conservatives have cause for concern” – it started with the following paragraph:

Well we all know the news of what happened on Saturday on the 3rd round vote – but don't expect that a Liberal government led by Christy Clark will be any different than the government we’ve already had under Gordon Campbell!

Well during the week I received two responses … one speaks for itself and doesn’t really need comment other than I tend to agree:

Hi:  Ms. Clark's elevation to "high office" will make it more difficult to have an independent investigation into the CNR / Vasi / Virk Affair. (Did I get the names right?)  She was very close to the Premier when this fiasco was going on and I believe that she has her dirty finger prints all over the sale.
