Liberal Leadership (lack of ) Debate

Last nights BC Liberal gathering in Kamloops turned out to be just as most people expected it to be … all fluff and not much meat ... although maybe the plan was for the meat only to be served at their fund-raising dinner.

If nothing else, it does seem that several of the leadership hopefuls actually did get to the core issue most people in the province seem to be galvanized over – the fact that the Liberal government has not been accountable to voters –  and BC Liberal MLA’s in Victoria have not represented the wishes of voters in their home ridings.

George Abbott … "People believe we have stopped listening and you can't blame them."

Mike De Jong said that the BC Liberals have a "trust deficit"

And former MLA and Cabinet Minister Christy Clark indicated … “We need an open government, we really need to open it up"

Good grief … and they still want us to continue giving them the keys to the legislature!  They call themselves the coalition of the reasonable and threaten us with a possible NDP government if we fail to continue voting for them.  Tell me, what could be worse than having a government that is so arrogant that’s their only reason for being.

Tomorrow (Friday Feb 4th) the six Liberal leadership hopefuls will again hold a debate(?), this time in Prince George.  Again, only party members are permitted to attend.  What else happens tomorrow?  At 5pm the clock will stop running for the leadership candidates to get in memberships for their instant Liberal converts.

The coronation of the new Liberal leader, left leaning Christy Clark (that’s my prediction anyways), will then take place following the vote count at their convention on February 26th.
