Christy Clark is not a member of the Legislature … she has the opportunity to become one
Christy Clark is not a MLA for any Constituency … she has the opportunity to run in one
No one can sit in the BC Legislature unless elected by the people … she has the opportunity
Meantime, the unelected leader of the BC Liberal Party continues to make announcements, on a daily basis, of what the elected government of BC could, should, and will do.
Regardless of the fact that Christy Clark is the leader of the BC Liberal Party, she has no more authority than any other person in British Columbia to state what is or isn’t going to be done; whether it’s today or tomorrow. Personally, I can’t imagine any other ‘un-elected’ person walking into the provincial legislature, and making pronouncements to "elected" MLA’s on how the province will be run.
The riding of Vancouver Point Grey has been vacant since March 15th when former MLA and Premier Gordon Campbell announced his resignation. In preparation for a by-election (which must be called within 6 months) Elections BC has already posted information regarding the over 400 by-election and voter registration officials they will require.

The Vancouver Point Grey riding encompasses Kitsilano, the University Endowment Lands, and includes some of the most popular beaches and parks in Greater Vancouver. It is also home to the Maritime and Vancouver museums, H.R. MacMillan Planetarium, and the University of British Columbia.
As leader of the governing BC Liberal Party, Christy Clark has not only a responsibility, she has an obligation to get herself elected as the MLA for the people in Vancouver Point Grey, so they have a representative in the legislature. Then once she is elected as an MLA, Christy Clark is welcome to make any ‘official pronouncements’ she wishes -- as premier of the province of British Columbia.
Christy Clark herself stated on March 15th that, “I’d like to find an opportunity to have a seat as soon as possible,” and then continuing that Vancouver Point Grey “certainly seems like the most likely scenario.”
I don’t know about you, but I believe that Christy Clark should do the right thing and call the Vancouver Point Grey by-election.
She also needs to put an end to talk of calling an expensive and un-necessary provincial general election over two years ahead of time.
I’m Alan Forseth in Kamloops, and those are the thoughts of one conservative.
