Bits and Bites

It’s a busy week so just a few bits and bites for the moment --- hopefully I will have a full blog story tomorrow.

Minister of Transportation Blair Lekstrom will vote with his government today in support of the Yale First Nation Treaty, the Vancouver Sun has learned.

On Wednesday, Lekstrom said he was opposed to elements of the treaty and was considering a break with government on the issue.

Re: Clark under pressure to define B.C.'s agenda, May 28

Given that the idea to increase the minimum wage in B.C. is a page out of the NDP's playbook, I can understand the pressure on Premier Christy Clark to define B.C.'s agenda. She is letting the party that ruined the economy in the 1990s set the pace for the 2011 agenda.

Thankfully, John Cummins and the BC Conservatives are here. Cummins, who made the commitment to slash the carbon tax, gives us a clear choice between the NDP and the Clark NDP Lite government.

After reading Jonathan Fowlie's article, I am more than convinced it is time for new ideas. Cummins seems to give us hope.

We want better, not just less bad government
Maureen Bader (Thursday, June 2, 2011) Vancouver Province
Fewer and fewer voters head to the voting booth these days and one reason might be they have no real choice.

British Columbia has two parties competing to deliver more, to more people, but people know big spending leaves the province with a legacy of deficits and debt, which translates into higher taxes later, no matter which party does the spending.

The BC Liberal government goes on and on about how they are different from the NDP, but how?

Are they better or simply less bad?

That's all for now ... enjoy the rest of your day.
