3 points made by the BC Liberal Party are a beautiful display of spin-doctoring

The BC Liberal Party put up a new website today called “Can’t Trust Cummins.ca” which has the following posted in the bottom right hand corner of the main index page:

What’s it all about??  Right off the bat BC Liberals are asking … “Can you trust BC Conservative Party Leader John Cummins?”, and with that statement, BC Liberal Party dirty politics begins.

I have a HUGE smile on my face however because if the BC Liberals have already started this, they are obviously scared of what a common sense campaign of people powered policy is going to do to their "Top Down" style of government.
Their first three points are a beautiful display of spin-doctoring starting with the pension issue.

BC Liberals say John Cummins is … “An unprincipled politician who opposed the minimum wage increase but takes a $100,000.00 per year federal pension financed by your tax dollars.”
  • John Cummins campaigned with full disclosure to the constituents of his riding, on his very first federal election campaign as a Reform candidate, that he would have to take the pension and YES it was because he had family. He was elected regardless --- and it was likely in part because of his honesty
  • Hmmmmm… this kind of reminds me of “No HST is on the radar” … then weeks later after the BC Liberals won the election all of a sudden we have , “Surprise --- here’s the HST”

BC Liberals say John Cummins is … “A politician who calls himself a conservative but voted for the BC NDP
  • I'm a conservative as well and I also have voted NDP in the past. John Cummins voted for the "person" he felt would best represent the riding he lived in, regardless of party affiliation.  Again this is an issue he has been totally upfront about at BC Conservative meetings through-out the province --- as well as during the leadership campaign. I guess again it is honesty like that which the BC Liberals are opposed??
And finally on the Asia Pacific Issue; BC Liberals say John Cummins is … “A “conservative” who opposed the Asia-Pacific Gateway (improvements to ports, highways, bridges and airports)
  • Well at least they are consistent in their lies and miss-truth.  Here is the policy position being presented to members of the BC Conservative Party at the AGM in Nanaimo next weekend:

3.2.1. An elected BC Conservative Government will recognize that it is vital that Canadian Exporters have access to the ever increasing markets of Pacific Rim Countries. To this end, development of the infrastructure required to build the “gateway” will be facilitated and our Government will strive to ensure resultant trade opportunities, jobs and other benefits are readily available to all British Columbians.
BC Liberals are taking stuff from all over the map, and creating a mish-mash of confusion with it.  I think this is too good to be true because the BC Liberal Party would not be starting this if they were not scared.

Again ... I’m smiling and laughing at the BC Liberals.  Let’s go John … let’s go BC Conservatives!
