Comments and posts on Facebook this week

Thought I would take a look at some of the comments and postings that I and others have made on my Facebook page in the past several days.  Screening out some of what for me MIGHT be called fluff left the following, which you may or may not find interesting.

Wisdom  / Fortune Cookie type quotes
  • Don't ask me why. But once in a while when confronted with self-righteous dullards like Al Gore and their ilk, I have the need to wheel out some ZZ Top
  • You have ONE life. Your expiry date might come early or late. So don't waste time. Live your life and live it well and full. Just be happy! Even if people don't share your joy, don't let them steal it from you!
  • The sun reminds us that our own shining truth is never extinguished. Our light shines within us at all times, no matter what else occurs around us. Though the sun gives us daily proof of its existence, sometimes our belief in our own light requires more time
Community Living B.C. gets a $6M budget lift
  • Harry Blah is the twerp responsible for slashing funding to community living group employees. He's a bloody disgrace as a cabinet minister and as a human being. I hope his conscience keeps him awake at night but I doubt he has one - a conscience, that is.
  • Government fart catchers are scrambling to cover their butts on this classless act of utter stupidity.
  • There are many sides to this story but none of them paint the government in a favourable light. In the coming months, this province will take several giant steps backwards to the days when these poor folks were warehoused and kept well sedated. We treat animals better. If cutbacks are necessary, I think I'll make a contribution by cutting back at the ballot box.
  • Many people, from across the political spectrum, have been commenting and raising concerns about this. This is just further proof that government needs to have long-term plans with measurable results, not knee-jerk reactions, even if the $$ is needed. Better planning will get better results
I’m burning my NDP membership (this was a Letter to the Editor which I came across)
  • So who peed in this guy's cornflakes????
  • And I thought only BC Liberals were ripping up their membership cards ...
Terry Fox run no place for teachers' labour snit
Not a good PR move on the BCTF's part - the Terry Fox school runs have been and always should be "non-partisan"

Inequality is bad for business
2011 has been a year in which relentless growth in income inequality, in good times and bad, has become synonymous with trouble, not just for those getting left behind but for investors and political decision-makers

Proposed new parkade in Kamloops
So people are worried about the borrowing of 8 million that only would require 10 thousand a year of property taxes to cover the revenue shortfall. So they would prefer we spend 12 to 15 million somewhere else with a probable 800 thousand yearly property tax subsidy. I hadn't realized that suddenly money is no problem when it comes to a parkade. Good to know.

Re: Attack ads on Cummins
  • makes me wonder if @bcliberals are worried about the party's increasing popularity.
  • Good stuff Michael Smyth. The Libs are out of control.
  • The arrogance of the BC Liberals is just astounding. They really just don't get it.
  • Whoever dreamed up this idea should be fired. WAIT ... no on second thought, give them a raise and MORE responsibility :)
  • Mike Smyth has it right on the new John Cummins "attack" webpage. It would have been better if the website had never been developed by the BC Liberals
  • Strange days indeed. The Liberals, after a week of nasty attacks on the NDP, launched an anti-John Cummins website. Absent a policy agenda, the Liberals seem to want to blame others for their problems. This too will backfire as Ms. Clark is again misreading the public mood. People are demanding substance in politics these days not photo ops and negative attacks.
Clark finds not all Facebook fans friendly
I like the idea some in the BC Liberal government are open to ideas / suggestions ... including Bill Bennett. Kevin Falcon wasn't though as he UN-Friended me after I made a couple of posts. I found that interesting as most people consider my comments to be generally be fairly made

B.C. teachers union quits settlement talks over 10-year-old legislation
A legislated settlement will be the final result. I personally think that government / union contracts should be settled by binding arbitration if both parties can't come to agreement

Liberal rebranding in the works
Shakespeare wrote, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet"  … in this case, a Skunk Cabbage by any other name would still smell just as bad!

I'm Alan Forseth in Kamloops ... have a great weekend!
