I’m not trying to be a smart a_ _ , but how do you justify the idea that BC’s New Democrats are the tax and spend party??

Christy Clark arrived back on the political scene a little more than a year ago with a catchy slogan of "Families First?”.

Let me ask you, are you feeling the glow and warmth of that??  Is the outcome of that “slogan” resonating in a positive way for you?  Somehow I think not!

Here is just one more example of how important BC families are to the Christy Clark Liberal government in British Columbia.

From the Canadian Taxpayers Federation comes a reminder that, "BC Families Face $84 Medical Services Premium Tax Increase"

On December 31, 2009, B.C. families paid $108 a month in MSP tax. That increased to $114 on January 1, 2010, and again to $121 on January 1, 2011. This year’s additional hike means families have seen their MSP tax bills go up 18.5 per cent in two years.

“Families and seniors are already finding it difficult to keep up with rate increases at BC Hydro, ICBC, BC Ferries and tax hikes at the gas pump,” said Bateman. “These MSP, CPP and EI increases are yet more weight added to the tax burden.”

Again, it is ONLY $84 ... but we do have to include that with all the other taxes that have gone up, in the past 9 months or so, since Christy Clark became premier. And as the story says, that includes increases to BC Hydro, BC Ferries, ICBC, the carbon tax ... etc, etc.

Countdown to the next BC general election … 17 months!

Are you a BC Liberal supporter??  I’m not trying to be a smart a_ _ , but how do you justify the idea that BC’s New Democrats are the tax and spend party??

I think it is becoming clearer every day --- there is really very little difference between New Democrats and BC Liberals.

I also think it is also becoming clearer to British Columbian’s that only one party is actually offering a true fiscally conservative platform; that party is the BC Conservatives, led by John Cummins

BC Conservatives are offering much more than just being fiscally responsible!

They are offering ideas and policies, on many of the issues, that are important to all of the people.  Protection of the environment … protection of our health care system … an education that meets the needs of (wait for it) --- STUDENTS … protection of the vulnerable in our society … and so much more!

Those are the REAL tangible things, being presented by BC Conservatives, that show what it really means to have policies and principles that do put families first!

I’m Alan Forseth in Kamloops, with the thoughts of one Conservative.

If other ministries in the BC Government are run like health, there is no reason we need to see tax increases.

As someone intimately involved in Health Care, I can tell you that for the most part, funding of our health system is more than adequate. It it the manner in which that funding is USED is the problem.

The is so much inefficiency, pedanticism, waste and misuse within so many facets of helth and hospital care. Funding must filter through so many layers of bureaucracy that from the inside looking out, we cannot help but scream, "Can't you see what is going on, and why don't you do something about it?!?"

In the Thompson Nicola region, a $10,000.00 upgrade to a temporary helipad was earmarked to have $750,000.00 of health authority funding thrown at it. Private enterprise and community volunteers offered to do the work for free the very next day, but were refused by IHA.

Here we are more than a year later and nothing has been done. The city of Kamloops saw how bloody ridiculous this situation was an erected their own helipad to help get patients to hospitals faster.

a simple problem that went through the health authority and was going to cost between 75 and 150 TIMES more! This is criminal.

Our hospitals have become so log-jammed as to prevent piece-work paid specialists from doing their valuable work, and managers, coordinators and "Team Leaders" are merely cosmetic and inefficient attempts to mitigate upstream prolems with the fundamental organization of health and health authority structure.

What is needed is a political entity with the courage to put their foot down and make sweeping fundamental changes to health delivery in BC. INCLUDING priviatization of many services.

Such changes will be wildly unpopular in the beginning, resulting in strikes, apalling poll numbers and ammunition for opponents, but the writing is on the wall with federal health transger payments.

Britain confronted the very same challenges we have, and have gone further than many socialized health systems towards reform.

I can never in good mind vote Conservative. Harper is an evil, petty man, and if any conservative thinks he is doing good for the country, then the party is beyond saving.

Besides, Conservatives always tout how evil the NDP is, but I can never see them give a reason for it.

Sorry but I cannot agree with your fist comment Anonymous.

As to the second, I look forward to an election in 2013 where both the NDP and BC Conservative Parties can clearly lay out their platforms for voters to choose from.

I have yet to see anyone in the BC Conservative Party state the NDP, or any member in it,is evil.

We have differences of opinion, sure -- but there is nothing evil in that.
