Like Quebec, it has also been a long time since a Conservative MLA sat in BC’s legislature assembly -- not for much longer however

A CBC News story today says that a “group of former Conservative MPs and their allies are hoping to revive the provincial Conservative Party in Quebec.”

The story went on to say that the leader of the party is former Quebec city Conservative Party MP, Luc Harvey.  Harvey stated, "For the last two years we were thinking about this opportunity to start our party."

"We think it's much better to move on the right and to make the modifications that will give the opportunity to the province of Quebec to continue to support [all of the] people in the province."

Others who back the party include another former Harper MP Daniel Petit ... and Jean-François Plante, who was a leadership candidate for Action Démocratique du Québec.

According to the story, 1935 was the last year a Conservative member sat in Quebec’s legislative assembly.

I hope that the Quebec conservative party will have more success, than it has received from some former Reform and Conservative MPs here in BC.

As a pointed out yesterday, in this province, some former Reform and Conservative MPs, (including Preston Manning, Chuck Strahl, and Stockwell Day) appear to have turned their backs on what they once believed.

Instead, for some reason completing mystifying to those who still hold fast to the principles they once supported, (of government accountability, fiscal responsibility, and more) they have transferred their allegiances to Christy Clark's BC Liberal Party.

This is a party, very much like the federal Progressive Conservatives and federal Liberals of the late 80’s and early 90’s.  They  were political parties which they (Reform) declared did NOT represent the people, were bloated with bureaucracy, and filled with fiscal waste.

Like Quebec, it has also been a long time since a Conservative MLA sat in BC’s legislature assembly, n ot quite so long though (1977 - 79).  With two up-coming provincial by-elections soon to be called, that is likely to change.

BC Conservatives may not have the support of some who have turned their backs on what they once believed … but they certainly have a remarkable team quarterbacked by party leader John Cummins … along with the political experience of people like Jim Hart, Paul Forseth, Brian Peckford, Reed Elley and many others.

More importantly than that however; will be the support the candidates (John Martin in Chilliwack – Hope … and ... Christine Clarke in Port Moody – Coquitlam) will receive from thousands of BC Conservative party members and supporters from across the entire province.

I’m Alan Forseth in Kamloops … with the thoughts of one conservative.
