Last Monday (February 28th) I wrote in my blog that, “Small “c” conservatives have cause for concern” – it started with the following paragraph:
Well we all know the news of what happened on Saturday on the 3rd round vote – but don't expect that a Liberal government led by Christy Clark will be any different than the government we’ve already had under Gordon Campbell!
Well during the week I received two responses … one speaks for itself and doesn’t really need comment other than I tend to agree:
Hi: Ms. Clark's elevation to "high office" will make it more difficult to have an independent investigation into the CNR / Vasi / Virk Affair. (Did I get the names right?) She was very close to the Premier when this fiasco was going on and I believe that she has her dirty finger prints all over the sale.

The other however asked me … What do you mean by small c conservatives have cause for concern? Signed xyxyxy
That one I sent the following answer to …
Hello xyxyxyxy ...
My personal belief is that is that with Christy Clark as the new Liberal leader there will be a stronger likelihood of excess government spending -- there will be dysfunction in government as she was seen by her opponents running to be leader as an outsider -- and that her call for accountability is rather convenient position to all of a sudden start taking. I believe that the unraveling of the BC liberal party will begin to happen within the next several months.
Small 'c' conservatives turned to the liberals a decade ago in large part because they had no other party to go to. As Christy Clark heads towards her true federal liberal side, which is closer to NDP beliefs, conservatives who make up two thirds of membership in the BC Liberals, will move away. They will move away to the party that has put together the platform showing conservative values --- and a belief in open and accountable government ... the BC Conservative Party
I hope that answers your question ... and feel free to follow-up ... alan
These are interesting days in BC politics … and in the next bit we will hear who she has selected to be in her cabinet … more details around the vote for the HST … and also news and information on the BC Conservative Party leadership race.
The week has just begun – and we will have lots to look at in the next few days. I’m Alan Forseth in Kamloops … and these are the thoughts of one conservative.
