What is of more interest is the fact the governing BC Liberal Party remains mired at around 25% -- showing a huge lack of support amongst BC voters

The clock is ticking down to the next BC
General Election to be held May 14th, 2013
A Globe and Mail story yesterday was headlined, “B.C. Liberals would face thrashing if election held now, poll shows

The story was based on a new Forum Research Poll that showed the NDP at 48% … the BC Liberals at 23% … and the BC Conservatives at 19%.

Okay, so the party I support has dropped a couple of percentage points since their last poll, however that 19% figure is in keeping with other recent polls, by other companies.  Depending on who was polled, and where, it could also simply be ‘just a hick-up’ in the numbers.

Regardless, support for the BC Conservative Party is high, and continues to remain so.

What is of more interest, to me, is the fact the governing BC Liberal Party remains mired at around 25% -- showing a huge lack of support amongst BC voters.

That’s probably what led Forum president Lorne Bozinoff to say that, “… the B.C. Liberals are in serious trouble beyond the horserace numbers because they are losing supporters to both the New Democrats and John Cummins’s Conservatives.”

He also went on to say, “I don’t think tinkering at the edges is going to work.  They need some big ideas.”

Tinkering is indeed what the BC Liberals have been doing for some time now, which is probably why they have remained a government that over three quarters of the population do not, and cannot, support.

Mixed messages continue to come out of Victoria … the Premiers Office … and from Premier Christy Clark herself.

Adding Ottawa conservatives, from the Prime Minister’s Office, has only further confused voters who wonder, “Is she a conservative … is she a Liberal … is she ...??”

And talk of a name change for the Liberal Party, without substantive change in direction will do nothing to save them from what is certain to be defeat at the polls in 2013.  That’s why Bozinoff was also quoted as saying, “It’s not like the election is so far away that people are going to forget who they are. I don’t think changing a name is going to get rid of their baggage”.

General Voting Day for the next scheduled general election in British Columbia is Tuesday, May 14, 2013.

Voters want change … and voters appear willing to make change.  Now it’s up to the BC Conservatives to show they are ready to be that change that people, who are looking for accountability and common sense government, can support.

I’m Alan Forseth in Kamloops, with the thoughts of one conservative.

It's interesting that when the Conservatives went down a touch, the NDP went up. Not the BC Liberals. So much for unite the right.

The trouble is Ian, most people do not think the BC Liberals are on the right side of the political spectrum. Regardless, common sense policies and ideas are neither right or left wing.

Looking at the NDP; Adrian Dix is keeping quite on policy, and presenting a soft and gentle face of the NDP to the public and they are responding to that.

Hopefully before the next general election however, they will take a look at their polices -- and MORE IMPORTANTLY -- the Principles of the party that will guide them as a government.

It is imperative that the BC Conservatives let British Columbians know where they stand so that voters can see they do have an alternative to the BC Liberals, that they can support
