Twitterverse lights up for Clarks not a throne speech, throne speech, on the Bill Good Show

BC Premier Christy Clark
Today Christy Clark paid a visit to the Bill Good show on CKNW 980, to outline upcoming plans for the BC Liberal Government.

As expected the #bcpoli Twitter feed lit up with the comments of news people, and political pundits alike, commenting on what she had to say.

The following is a small snapshot of what I thought were the “Best Of” those comments – of which there were literally hundreds and hundreds:

CHILDCARE:
We need a childcare plan in BC. The cost of childcare in BC is too high for families

BC LIBERALS and the BC NDP:
Both of those parties are the same old and they need to be replaced

CALLERS ARE BC LIBERAL PLANTS:
Anyone else feel like they're listening to @billgood980's private lobbying session with @christyclarkbc as the #fauxthrone speech?

Oh BC Liberals, your plants to @CKNW call-in line are SOOOO obvious. The pat talking points kinda give you away..

Sounds like call-ins so stacked @BillGood980 has 2 pose most questions

RECENT POLLS:
Amusing to listen to the premier dance around recent polls. Earth to Christy: your party is way behind right now.

She should call the by-elections and lets see what those 2 polls look like

Premier Christy Clark says you cannot judge these things by polls that go up and down....when was the last 'up' poll?

WHO’S TO BLAME FOR PROBLEMS:
Clark refers to her fellow MLA's, + Minister's as the 'previous government' - who is she trying to fool? Same people, same policy

Now Clark blames government workers for her problems. Who's in charge there? Leadership?

Clark try 2 hold NDP accntbl for 20 yrs ago.won't take rspnsblty for her own party's gov ..

If I was member of "previous" govt (all other Liberal MLAs) Clark just threw under the bus, I'd be upset

ON GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY
how about Clark's accountability for BC Rail? #bcpoli #bcrail Media went to sleep on that issue

ANYTHING NEW TO TELL US?:
So far Christy Clark faux throne speech sounds more like a synopsis of already made announcements rather than a look forward

Clark says will outline "seniors agenda" in next few days. But won't show hand on dates for Port Moody/Chilliwack by-elections

This spring session, gov will introduce a comprehensive anti-bullying strategy for our schools

Caller-when will u legislate anti-bullying in workplace? @christyclark- strategy will b part of spring agenda.

ON ENBRIDGE:
Christy --- question was "what is YOUR position on the pipline" .. answer please

Caller asks about Enbridge pipeline. Do you or not support it? Premier Clark again says she will wait for completion of review

It's clear CC not standing up 4 BC RT @keithbaldrey: Premier says she has clear position on Enbridge pipeline, which is no position

ON BY-ELECTIONS & ELECTION FOR 2013:
Interesting, Premier Christy Clark admits some MLA's probably won't run again says new blood is welcome to the party

Clark rules out exasperated caller's request to call two looming byelections but promises action soon

@christyclarkbc you had your chance to show leadership and call the by-elections,you dropped the ball

Oops. Clark - "I don't think there is anyone in our caucus who is interesting.." Meant to say "interested" in joining BC Cons

if premier called a byelections in more timely way, they would be representing constituents this session

I have never wished a Conservative Gov on anyone but that is exactly what BC needs. Stat!!

BC RAIL:
Come on, @billgood980 start asking the hard questions about BC Rail. Do some journalism

If this gov't were "open", every document on BC Rail would be publicly searchable

ON SENIORS:
Whatever happened to.... the Premier's Council on Aging and Seniors' Issues set up from 2005 Throne Speech

Big Deal Senior Activists like me are working for the BCCP

The last BC throne speech on seniors: 2005. Premier Clark now pledges a "rich agenda for seniors

ON WASTE IN GOVERNMENT and CROWN CORPORATIONS:
Premier Christy Clark says she is troubled s=by some top heavy wages in #ICBC adds "They are being audited."

After 11 years of #bclib gov, Premier says crown corps have grown too fat & wasteful; you know what, libs responsible

Clark says gov going to audit ICBC. "We are going to go in and look at them pretty closely."

ON JOBS:
talkin about jobs 3-4 years from now, how is she getting credit for anything

@christyclarkbc wants private industry to grow. That means low paying jobs with no benefits thanks for making it harder for families

And finally … the thoughts of one person that tweeted on their overall assessment of the hour and a half open line with Bill Good

Pretty lacklustre 90 minutes from a news perspective. As in nothing "new" revealed. Hoping scrum to come will be better

That’s all for today.  I’m Alan Forseth in Kamloops … with the thoughts and comments of the  folks in the Twitterverse, on Christy’s interview today on the Bill Good Show.

No surprises here. CKNW allowed one caller to talk for some time about how wonderful the Liberals are and how bad the NDP were during the 90's. A speech right from the Liberal's play book. The rest of the questions, although relevant, were mostly softball to one degree or another. Not one question about the sad state of health care. Makes one think that this was just a well orchestrated public relations stunt.

You are indeed right -- there were no surprises at all. It ended up pretty much being an hour and a half promo for Christy Clark and the BC Liberals.

What I found regrettable, but no surprise, was that she really did not answer any of the callers questions that weren't from the Liberal playbook

When will the by-elections be called called, how could she take credit on the Seaspan contract ... what were her own personal views on the Enbridge pipeline, what will she do about the teachers dispute to name just a few
