John Cummins … thoughts on Jobs … and ‘common sense’

Today I thought before I posted a media release from John Cummins and the BC Conservatives, I would take an edited (only to shorten) quote from John Cummins “About Me” web page

Throughout my career I have always stood for common sense. Too often political decisions are driven by special interest groups or political correctness.  Join me in building a … new government based on common sense … do politics differently … listen to the people … build a new choice for British Columbia. Help us return common sense to the Legislature.

Given the government we have been getting under Christy Clark and the BC Liberals, BC Conservative Leader John Cummins is right when he says …the cries for common sense change from everyday B.C. families will only grow louder

MEDIA RELEASE: Vancouver -- September 20, 2011 -

Cummins: Clark neglecting Nanaimo's unemployed

As Christy Clark unveils her jobs agenda around the province, she is avoiding a key region; Vancouver Island.

This oversight comes on the heels of comments made by Liberal MLA John Les that young people living in the City of Nanaimo may want to consider leaving town to find a job.

"Telling people to leave home to find a job is not a solution," stated Mr. Cummins. "The people of Vancouver Island, Nanaimo in particular, deserve to hear directly from the Premier how she plans to help decrease the unemployment rate in their city."

The City of Nanaimo currently has the highest unemployment rate in the province at 12.3%.

"People need to know that the Premier is concerned about Vancouver Island. With over 6 500 people unemployed in Nanaimo alone, this should have been a key stop on her tour."

If this is lack of support is what British Columbians can expect from the next year and a half of the Clark Liberal government, the cries for common sense change from everyday B.C. families will only grow louder.

Common sense has indeed been missing from Victoria for too many years now ... and it's why Christy Clark and the BC Liberals will increasingly, and nervously, be looking over their shoulders.  They can count on the fact that ..."the cries for common sense change from everyday B.C. families will only grow louder."

IF you are looking for a way to begin bringing common sense to government in BC ... The BC Conservative Party has made a good start with their Guiding Principles
