As I mentioned
yesterday, since I began the Conservative Thoughts blog I have written and
posted just under 350 articles. I recently
looked to see which ones had interested readers the most this year, and yesterday
I posted the ones from #20 to #11 that had most interested you.
Today
we’re counting down the stories and articles from ten to #1. Following each of the headings, which have
links to the full story, I will include a brief paragraph or two on what the
story was about.
Here
we go …
#10 Three
points made by the BC Liberal Party are a beautiful display of spin-doctoring … we begin with a story from early Fall …
September 15th
… I
have a HUGE smile on my face however because if the BC Liberals have already
started this, they are obviously scared of what a common sense campaign of
people powered policy is going to do to their "Top Down" style of
government. Their first three points are a beautiful display of spin-doctoring
starting with the pension issue …
#9 BC
Conservatives will not be splitting the vote --- the BC Liberals are driving
their supporters away … from May 30th
… today
I was puzzled but what appeared to be an acceptance of the Liberal mantra that
that BC Conservatives are going to ‘split the vote’ … if you listen to Christy
Clark and her Liberal MLA’s, it seems that their only reason for being, and why
people should support them, is because ... “We’re not the NDP” … once believed
in government reform by the grassroots … and that accountability, honesty, and
responsibility to the voters was paramount …
#8 BC
Liberals set aside democratic principle of one member = one vote … here’s the one from Valentine’s Day … can
you feel the Liberal Love J
… the
only real political drama will be the on-going hype of the BC Liberals in there
leadership race of former and current Campbell cabinet members – and the
waiting game to see which NDP hopefuls will be vetted by the party and
authorized to run … the NDP have a sticky situation of their own making to sort
out. Only men have stepped forward as
leadership candidates; which means either the Party President or Treasurer MUST
resign so that one of the 3 top positions is filled by a female …
#7 Environment
Minister Terry Lake provides us with “political baffle- gab” at its finest ... this is my piece from May 31st
Terry
Lake … blasted John Cummins and the BC Conservative Party for saying this … tax
grab should be eliminated, and will be under a BC Conservative government … the
only political jurisdiction in North America with a tax like this. Has Terry… ever stopped to wonder why no one
else has a tax like this? … everything we buy, and do, costs us more …
#6 There
are actually at least 3 camps regarding the HST ... and the PST / GST … from June 30th …
… this
is economics plain and simple … and it has nothing to do with what I think,
feel, or hear from Christy Clark and the BC Liberals – Adrian Dix and the NDP …
or from Bill Vander Zalm and Chris Delaney in the Fight HST group. Of those people, and what they have to say,
I have a different opinion … I am voting YES to end the HST – not because of
the rhetoric I have heard – but because of the facts …
#5 Jim
Pattison is a multimillionaire -- he obviously likes to make money -- so why
the ban?? … from October 26th
… you
may not know this, and you can decide if you think this has any impact on the
decision or not, but Jim Pattison’s Great Pacific Capital Corporation was the
biggest donor to the BC Liberals in 2010 with a donation of $208 thousand
dollars … Jim Pattison is free to do
what he wants; but I happen to think that the choice of his sign company not to
run ads by Integrity BC is totally wrong, biased, and discriminatory …
#4 Would
you call that a fair severance package ... a generous severance package ... or
an obscene severance package? … this
story from May 5th sure had a lot of people upset
… it is
Christy Clark Liberals that have canned them. Remember too what your severance
would be, under the labour standards employment act, should you be let go from
your place of employment tomorrow … Does that sound to you like a BC government
that is putting the family first ... that wants to be accountable to the voters
... making good use of your hard earned taxes dollars? …
#3 The
beginnings, and reasons, for the Reform Party of Canada … it was a sad day when I wrote this on
October 22nd … it felt like the reform movement now meant nothing to
one of its founders …
… the
reasons why the Reform party of Canada came into existence, are the very
reasons why there has been a rise in popular support for John Cummins and the
BC Conservative Party … is a grassroots movement of common sense ideas and
policies; first and foremost the accountability of elected members to the
people they represent … BC Liberal Party represents everything Preston Manning
and the Reform Party of Canada was opposed to … BC Liberals are leaving a deep
and bitter taste in many westerns mouths ...
#2 In
the words of John Cummins … or … “You’ll find that I’m not really a trained
seal” … here’s another on from the Spring (April 19th) … I had
fun with this one
… some
people may still wonder who and what he is about – and his thoughts on what a
real government that is accountable to the voters should look like … here is
John Cummins in his own words … “No one can beat the Liberals when it comes to
arrogance” … “The best way to get things done is to listen to what the voters
are saying, to stand up for what you believe in, and never back down on
something you know is right” …
And
now we have the story that has been most read during the year. It is actually quite a dated one as it precedes
her decision to run in the Vancouver Point Grey by-election. Still, it continues to be read, even now.
#1 Christy
Clark has responsibility to get elected as MLA for Vancouver Point Grey …
from April 8th
… the
unelected leader of the BC Liberal Party continues to make announcements, on a
daily basis, of what the elected government of BC could, should, and will do ...
Christy Clark herself stated on March 15th that, “I’d like to find an
opportunity to have a seat as soon as possible,” and then continuing that
Vancouver Point Grey “certainly seems like the most likely scenario.” … Christy
Clark should do the right thing and call the Vancouver Point Grey by-election …
So
there you have it … the stories that struck a chord with you the most during
the past year. I have enjoyed writing
them … and 2012 will see more. Thanks
for being a part of this journey with me.
I
hope you have a wonderful Christmas … and enjoyable New Years
I’m
